The Celtic Cross
The Cross of the Celts mirrors the abundant variety of fate. With the first two cards you will evaluate the fragile balance between emotion and reason. Card three and four refer to the equally important dichotomy of the human soul: virtue and vice. According to the same logic weakness and strength form a pair of corresponding opposites. In the focal point of these struggling forces lies the destiny of the matter in question.

The Celtic Cross

This Tarot Spread is a sophisticated approach to the wisdom of the tarot cards, but it is accessible to all, not only to seasoned tarot experts. This reading allows for a very wide range of questions, and it is particularly apt for all kinds of introspect queries and for discovering and understanding the very owen soul and personality.

The Tarot-Cross is a cross in tension - the three opposing pairs emotion-reason, strength-weakness and virtue-vice open a wide field of study. Do accept that this spread is necessarily bound to result in a very subjective interpretation, especially as far as the judgement of virtue and vice are concerned. The moral standards of each human being are very different, and some people may already suffer from a guilty conscience in situations, where others are still completely comfortable. Consider also, that the ethical and moral standards of our environment are not to be underestimated - whereas for example an extra-maritial affair may be a capital crime in one culture, it may be considered a minor issue in a more liberal society.

As always with the tarot, do judge the cards cautiously, consider the ways the various cards condition one another and do not forget about the context.

One more word about the reading itself: the name Celtic Cross is derived from its shape, which resembles an Irish high cross in Celtic style. Historically, the Celtic culture and the Tarot are not connected, but just like the high crosses connect Christian culture with pagan beliefs also the Tarot is an overlap of Christian and Pagan culture.
